The presentation of the second annual Kenya Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) took place virtually on Thursday 26th August 2021 as part of an internationally attended online Thought Leadership Webinar – “Thinking about outstanding security in Kenya: what are the barriers to making further improvements?” organised in collaboration with Securexpo East Africa.
OSPA winners were selected by an esteemed panel of industry figures who judged entries using the same criteria which is applied to OSPAs around the world. Each winner demonstrated that they have performed at an exceptional level and has shown their commitment and outstanding performance within the security sector.
The winners of the 2021 Kenya OSPAs are:
Outstanding Security Manager or Director
Annette Kimitei – Senaca East Africa
Annette Kimitei as a managing director is passionate about all things safety, security and training and her specializations lie in Leadership, Diversity and Governance. For more than 15 years consistently disrupted the norm by encouraging and promoting diversity within the company and security industry at large. The judges regarded Annette as an up and coming leader and an example setter.
Outstanding Security Training Initiative
Private Security Training Academy (PSTA)
Private Security Training Academy is considered a pioneer in providing safety and security training and consultancy services in Kenya. their expertise in vetting and security training, for private security companies, corporates, schools, churches, individuals and Institutions, as well as their career progression and specialisation opportunities make PSTA a leader in the field of training.
Judges felt that the organisation clearly demonstrated a key strength of partnering with various stakeholders to provide different trainings, particularly surrounding Covid-19 awareness.
Outstanding Contract Security Guarding Company
Senaca East Africa
With over 18 years of experience, Senaca EA aims to consistently provide the highest standards of solutions when it comes to a safety and security. The company has directly employed thousands of youth, men & women across Kenya & the East African region. Senaca EA is passionate about its customers, with the goal of ensuring the world is safer daily, and the judges applauded the organisation for making a positive difference.
Outstanding Young Security Professional
Simon Njuguna – Centum Investments Plc
Simon is a Physical and cybersecurity professional, who is the current Director of Technical Security services at Tribus-TSG. He is considered to be a problem solver and a convergent thinker, and has struck numerous and diverse partnerships with both local and international organizations. Under his leadership, Tribus has been recognized as a top technology innovator.
Outstanding Female Security Professional
Annette Kimitei – Senaca East Africa
Currently, Annette serves as the Chair of the KEPSA, Security Sector Board, she is also a founder the Private Security Training Academy, that trains safety & security professionals across the security industry, and she has played a major role with other security stakeholders, by participating in the development of the training curriculum.
Annette was regarded by the judges to be a champion for Women in Security and is considered undoubtedly to be a pioneer in advancing the security sector forward
