Catherine Karuga has over 14 years’ experience in Security Management with a bias in criminal Investigations, Criminal intelligence collection, risk management, loss prevention, partners relationship management and security awareness training.
Her experience includes 10 years in public service as an investigator in Kenya police service, Directorate of Criminal investigations and Criminal intelligence Bureau and over 4 years in corporate Security. She is an excellent team leader and has excellent communication skills.
Ms. Karuga is a Governing Council Member in charge of Recruitment and Membership at the Association of Women In Safety Excellence (WISE) and is also the Vice Chairperson for Kenya Professional Society of Criminology (KEPSOC).
Throughout her career, Ms. Karuga has participated in security awareness promotion and believes that diversity and inclusion in Security industry plays a great role in achieving secure working environment for all.
She is currently the Security and Safety Manager at International Christian Centre Imara, Nairobi.
Simon Karuki MSc, CPP, PSP, PCI, CFE
Simon Karuki is a Board-Certified Security Professional with over 13 years of experience in the management of Corporate Security and Fraud Risks, and Forensic Investigations. His main areas of expertise include: Fraud Risk Prevention, Detection and Deterrence; Forensic Investigations; Physical Security; Personnel Security and Crisis Management.
Simon is currently the Head of Security and Investigations at I&M Bank. In addition, he has previously served as: the Regional Head of Corporate Security and Investigation Services at Ecobank (covering Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya); Head of Security at ABC Bank and as a Security and Investigations officer at Equity Bank.
Simon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Science from Maseno University and Master of Science Degree in Security and Risk Management from the University of Leicester. He is currently pursuing the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
Simon is the Chapter Secretary at the ASIS, Nairobi Kenya Chapter. He is also a consummate facilitator of ASIS CPP, PSP, and PCI certification review classes. Additionally, Simon is a talented writer and speaker on Corporate Security and Forensic Investigation issues; he has spoken in major conferences and seminars within and without Kenya.
Monicah Kimeu is a Security Training and Communications Consultant with 15 years experience in Security Training and Development. She is the Managing Director of Mo n’ More Concepts Ltd, a founder member of the Association of Women In Safety Excellence (WISE) and the Protective and Safety Association of Kenya (PROSAK) respectively. Ms. Kimeu is at the heart of the private security sector reform process in Kenya and is keen on issues to do with women’s empowerment, diversity and inclusion, women’s progressive career paths, safe and secure working environments that are devoid of challenges inhibiting their free and active participation in leadership roles.
Monicah is an experienced Security Management Trainer and has extensive knowledge in security training and related disciplines, curriculum development as well as running and evaluating security training programs in various levels. Ms. Kimeu has been in the transformative cycle of the private security industry where over 10,000 security men and women have professionalized in security. She is proud to be part of the transformative security reforms being experienced in Kenya today.
She runs a training and development company that seeks to improve business performance of organisations through tailored training programs with a security lens. She is a superior facilitator for cross-functional organisational structures and management deliverables for internal and external publics.
She is currently the Secretary General of WISE and the Deputy Secretary General of PROSAK. She was among the pioneer judges for the Kenya OSPAs when they launched in 2020 and will be judging for the second time.
Maurice Munene Mugambi MSc, CFE, RCrim
Mr. Maurice Munene Mugambi, MSc, CFE, RCrim is a trained paramilitary Law Enforcement Officer and later joined the Directorate of Criminal Investigations serving as a junior detective and rising through the ranks to command a County level as the Head of Criminal Intelligence.
He is Currently serving as Ag. Director with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) having joined the organisation in 2018.
Mr. Mugambi is the concept initiator and founding Chairman of Criminology organisations in East Africa; Professional Criminologist Association of Kenya (PCAK) & the precursor university students’ criminology body, KEPSOC. He is the concept initiator and Founding Patron of the PCAK Youth Criminologists Association (PYE). He is an active board member in both public and private schools where he continues to propagate consciousness about the downsides of outlawed activities to school fraternities. He leads similar crusades at Church institutions level where currently he is the Chairman of the Security & Safety committee at PCEA St. Andrews Church, Nairobi.
He is a successful community empowerment mobiliser focusing on social and economic empowerment models through LoCEF Foundation which he conceptualised in 2014 and launched in 2017. Mr. Mugambi’s concepts and sense of deep professional commitment to the same has received national acclamation and accolades from key industry prayers. His selfless service to humanity in Kenya has also not gone an unnoticed. In 2016 he scooped the OPSA (Outstanding Police Service Award) in the category of DCI as voted for by the Kenyan public.
Mr. Mugambi is a holder of MSc. Governance, Peace & Security Studies (Human Security Management option), BA. Criminology & Security Studies and two Diplomas; Forensic Criminology, and Information Technology. He has attained several professional and leadership trainings and certifications.
Mr. Mugambi is participating as a Judge in the OSPAS for the second year in a row. His professional contribution to the judges panel has been outstanding.
Cosmas Mutava is the managing director of Marco security limited with over 20 years’ experience in security management, risk management and various roles in leadership ,
Cosmas is the chairman of Protective Security Industry Association (PSIA), a board member of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) in the Security sector board,a board member of Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE).He is also the chairman Makueni county Professionals Forum (MCPF)
He is a graduate of Management University of Africa (MUA) and attained an Executive Master of Business Administration and he holds various Certificate courses in: courter Terrorism, Fire prevention Safety Awareness, formalising the informal sector in Kenya certificate from International Labour Organisation (ILO) and school board leadership in the country among other leadership credentials.
Dr. EVANS M. ORUTA holds PhD in Criminal Justice, from the University of South Africa, Pretoria, Master of Criminology, and a Bachelors Degree in Criminology first class honours both from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. He is a Lecturer and Chairperson of the Department of Criminology and Social Work at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (2015 to Date). He has nine years teaching experience at the university.
He served the National Police Service for 19 years (1996-2015) rising through the ranks from a police constable to the inspector of Administration Police Service. He is a member of Kenya Professional Society of Criminology (KEPSOC). He has widely published on Criminal Justice Practice in Kenya with specific focus on correctional management, policing and security management.
TOBIAS SEE MBA,CPP,PCI, PSP has been in the security industry in the region for the last 27 years. He is an holder of Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Management and Bachelor of Arts. He is triple certified, holder of CPP, PCI and PSP.
Besides being a director of Riley courier and First land development, he is also currently the Managing Director of Riley Falcon Security Services Ltd, one of the largest and well established Security companies in the Region.
Tobias has undertaken training in various aspects of security in Kenya, Europe Asia and America. He is also trained in corporate governance and is currently the serving chairman of ASIS – Kenya chapter.
